Even during his own lifetime Alberto Giacometti had already become a legendary figure due to the sheer amount that was written about him. His rich oeuvre, which set completely new standards in art, fascinated his contemporaries; his life - with all its different refractions - gripped them. This publication, with a wealth of illustrations, texts, conversations, diary entries, letters, interviews and quotes, draws a many-layered picture of Giacometti as a human being. His life is portrayed through his own statements and in reports by those who shared his life - including family members, fellow pupils and students, artist-friends such as Man Ray, Pablo Picasso, André Breton, Hans Arp and Salvador Dalí, writers such as Simone de Beauvoir, Samuel Beckett and Jean-Paul Sartre, collectors and gallerists such as Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler and Peggy Guggenheim: short commentaries accompany these sources which range right from his earliest days in the Bregaglia through to the fifties and sixties. The image that forms in the mirror held up by these biographical documents - with all their many contradictions - is without doubt the liveliest possible portrait of Alberto Giacometti. (German edition available ISBN 3-7757-0752-2) The editor: Reinhold Hohl, born 1939. Studied literature and the history of music at the Sorbonne in Paris. Honorary professor at the Technische Hochschule in Zürich. Working with the Saarländischer Rundfunk and Swiss Television. Numerous publications on art in the 20th century. Since 1959 Reinhold Hohl has devoted numerous publications, exhibition catalogues, essays and newspaper articles to the work of Alberto Giacometti.

Very Good and Well Written
Format: Hardcover
Probably about on page 55, enjoying reading. No page bleeds for me, it's a good-looking book. One of the cool ideas in here was this part that said that the super difficult emotions like grief, if you ignore these emotions, ***They get buried alive. Buried alive. BURIED ALIVE .*** SO well said! And That's why we benefit by doing the work to unbury and fully feel and fully respond to Life. As Brené Brown says, when we cut ourselves off from the ChallenginG emotions, like Grief, and try to run from them, we're ALSO cutting ourselves off from the fun, happy, positive emotions like JOY and LOVE and BELONGING. I really appreciate how this book might say "God" and talk about things being Holy AND YET this book is NOT centered on religion. I would not be able to read it if it was. I feel in good hands since the author seems wiser than religion and religiosity. For me, God is cool; religion is Not. This book feels good to read. I think this can be a helpful book for EveryonE, these days - even those who've already been on this spiritual Healing journey for quite some time.

Deep, honest, and healing
Format: Audiobook
This book has completely transformed my life. Iyanla writes in a way that feels real, honest, and sometimes a little uncomfortable (in a good way). It challenges you to look at your patterns, your pain, and your habits, but also gives you tools to start healing and creating better boundaries. If you’re on a self help or healing journey this is definitely a must read.
