Trevor Mast was a legend of the Australian wine scene. Among his many accomplishments, he is most revered as a pioneer of cool climate Shiraz. The Mast Shiraz is our tribute to his memory, recognising his role in establishing the reputation of Mount Langi Ghiran. Thanks to his foresight, our vineyards showcase the ultimate expression of cool climate Shiraz.

Fruit for this wine is solely hand-picked and sourced exclusively from a single block on our Mount Langi Ghiran Estate Vineyard. This block was planted by Trevor Mast himself some 27 years ago.

2021 was another relatively mild year in terms of temperatures. Yields were back up above average and the quality was brilliant. With ripening drawn out, the fruit gained plenty of spice and a full basket of fruit flavours. Our Mast Shiraz shows great spice, elegant tannins and a firm acid drive.

I think Trevor Mast would have been mighty pleased to see this wine under his name. It is a cracker, reflecting a very good vintage. It comes off the single Home Block 4 which is the coolest on the vineyard. The key to the flavour development here was the extra hang time on the vine which has contributed to its polish refinement, tremendous depth and concentration of fruit. Highly perfumed aromas with oodles of spices working neatly with the ripe plummy fruit. It’s a plush and sumptuous wine of great balance and poise.

Soaring black pepper, anise and coltsfoot riffs beguile from the off, as does the fresh, agile blackberry, plum and blueberry fruit. The spice and petrichor granite minerality resonate on a lingering, retro-nasal finish of uncommon levity and intensity. Exuding class and charm, it is drinking beautifully now but has a couple of decades in hand. The harvest was completed on 23 April.

The long and slow ripening season of the great 2021 vintage has produced a benchmark Mast Shiraz that sets a delightful contrast between the depth of satsuma plum, blackberry and black cherry fruit and the signature black pepper and spice so pronounced in the Mount Langi vineyard. I love the fine-boned structure and seamless tannin texture of this cool season, guiding a finish of great persistence and endurance.

Mediterranean herbs, blackcurrants, dark olives and a hint of cured meat on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with a delicate profile and soft tannins. Really elegant and solid. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Just the right edge of black pepper and a substantial base of juicy, engaging cherry-plum fruit. This is the Langi song sung true and proper. There are no rough edges here, and no signs that it's trying too hard either. It's a quality wine – it just is. It lays out everything in good measure and ties all the pieces together confidently through the finish.

This comes from a block planted by Trevor Mast in the late 1990s, a consistently cooler side. It’s finely detailed, intricately etched, rippling with blue berries and black cherries. A fine seam of pepper is woven through the satin-sheened palate, a closing chapter of fine gravelly tannin.

There’s plenty of fragrance here… It’s driven by cherry-plum flavours though roasted nut, black peppercorn, gum leaf and floral characters all make contributions. There’s a toasty, charry, meaty aspect to this wine too, almost a gamey character, the latter rounding the shoulder of the finish slightly. It smells beautiful; the palate needs to unfold.

Composure is the key to this stylish cool climate 2021 Shiraz. It opens with wonderful purity of blackberries and violets with a strong peppery/clove undertow. Superb vibrancy and energy to follow with Lucy dark berry flavours underpinned by firm underlying tannins. Very young and needs time to build but the class is undeniable.
Review
Across the South Pacific in the remote and rugged Grampian region in Victoria, Mount Langi Ghiran is one of the coldest sites in the country and is often the last winery to pick fruit in all of mainland Australia. Mount Langi Ghiran Langi Shiraz is a completely different expression than one might expect from other Australian regions. Chief winemaker Adam Louder compares his wine to versions from Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale, which may be “ripe, rich, and at times, jammy,” he says. But nestled between two mountains at 1,200 feet, his wines produce a different character. “The long, slow ripening of our Shiraz vines results in wines of notable elegance and balance,” Louder explains. “They maintain high levels of natural acidity and display a full spectrum of berry fruit, spice, and fine tannin that set them up to age gracefully for decades.”

amazing
Format: Kindle
Knot the Bride was a fantastic read! The characters were all amazing and well-developed. It was easy to like them all. Sophia, Luca, Nick, and Gavin were all perfect for each other. It was such a charming story that had me hooked the entire time. I did wish there were POVs from Luca, Nick, and Gavin but it was still an amazing book without it. I am excited to read the next book in the Willowside Omegaverse series! This is definitely a must-read for fans of omegaverse romance!. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

3 Star Read,
Format: Kindle
This book wasn't bad, but wasn't my cup of tea. It's highly disappointing because the storyline is so original. There is no real conflict or resolution, so the entire thing feels flat. As a lover of omegaverse books, I know there is a ton of variety out there, and ov is really up to the author. But this one is weird. Omegas have multiple scent glands all over their bodies and go into week long heats every month. Alphas have knots in the middle of their shaft instead of the base, and the knot doesn't always swell, no explanation of when or why. It doesn't engage at all when the mouth is in play. I also didn't enjoy the author's writing style. Each paragraph is only 1 or 2 sentences long, and the entire book reads very stacato. The conversations are stiff and unnatural feeling. Everything is very repetitive, both in word choice and in thought. The same thing is repeated 3 or 4 times over a single page, multiple times over. I ended up doing so much skimming. The first 50% of the book is all slow burn, and the last 50% is almost straight mediocre spice. This wouldn't have been all bad if the grammar and spelling errors didn't start at the exact same time. Tongue is repeatedly misspelled in the middle of the spice.

Cozy Omegaverse
Format: Kindle
This is the true definition of Cozy Omegaverse. LA wedding coordinator meets her pack at the location for a couple’s destination wedding. Low angst because they are scent matched high heat with heats and knots. Everything you love about this genre with very little anxiety. Simply a fun experience to read and a book I will comeback to when I’m in a slump. I simply love reading this book

Cute Omegaverse story
Format: Kindle
3.75 stars and 2 for spice. Adorable Omegaverse story about a wedding planner who has to go to a small town to plan a wedding for a movie star. While there, she meets her pack. This covers her struggles of not living there but trying to keep her relationship going with her 3 Alphas. It's a quick read and cute, so I recommend it for people who like light-hearted RH stories.

real good
Format: Kindle
This was a solid read for the ABO universe. The characters are great. The smut scenes were well written. And the town is so cute I want to go there. It didn’t have much character development it just felt like I was getting to the characters as they were getting to know each other.
