The World's Greatest Rosé. From Italy's Most Mythic Producer.

Edoardo Valentini was one of the most singular figures in the history of Italian wine — a farmer-philosopher who rejected the modern world entirely, farmed his Montepulciano d'Abruzzo vines with obsessive rigour, and released wines only in the years he deemed worthy. His son Francesco Paolo continues that uncompromising tradition today, and the wines remain among the most sought-after and age-worthy in all of Italy.

Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo is Valentini's rosé — and calling it a rosé almost undersells it. Made from Montepulciano grapes with brief skin contact, it has the colour of a deep cherry, the structure of a serious red, and the freshness and tension of something altogether more electric. This is not a wine for poolside sipping. This is a wine for the table, for food, for conversation, and for paying attention.

The 2024 vintage is a rare opportunity to own one of the world's most iconic bottles at the moment of release.

Tasting Notes
  • 🍒 Colour: Deep cherry-red — the cerasuolo (cherry) that gives the wine its name
  • 🌸 Aroma: Wild cherry, dried rose, iron, and a stony, mineral depth that is unmistakably Valentini
  • 🫘 Palate: Taut, structured, and electric — more red wine than rosé in its presence and grip, with a vivid, saline acidity
  • Finish: Extraordinarily long and complex — this wine rewards patience and decanting

Now what?
Format: Hardcover
I am a student (not scholar) of WW II history mostly because of the many men and women in my family who served in this war. Holland and Murray bring a new experience to WW II reporting. We know that surrenders happened, and when and where. But this book gives the reader the "then what happened" ? and named individuals and told of their experiences while they struggled to figure out "what next?". They are lucky to be alive but confused as if they were experiencing an altogether new "battle" asking What shall we do? where shall we go, where will we be safe, how do we live now? This is a fascinating view of the joy and the terror and the miracle of having survived.

Format: Kindle
Enjoyed reading the detailed accounts of all the participants bringing the end of conflicts. Unconditional surrender was the guiding principle of the Allied forces.
